Cotton candy on the rocks
I take my cotton candy on the rocks, thank you very much.
I almost went home and missed this. The sky was overcast, stormy, raining, but close to the horizon it looked thin. So glad I stuck it out.
Coronado Islands in the distance
My whole life I'd grown up looking at the islands in the distance. I called them Mummy Islands. I know locals have been out there and checked them out. Lots of stories depending on who you talk to like all these on Wikipedia.
Lights in the bay
Perfection is a theme I rarely seek out. It has too many absolute meanings to too many people that don't share my own opinions. I probably could have looked for a night when there were no clouds, no haze, panned my camera to the right, used a wide angle lens, etc. I love this shot. I got the one thing I was excited about. I captured the lights from the yacht that was slowly passing in front of me. I had my shutter speed set to 30 seconds, I saw the boat coming and I fired off. Just so happened to be good timing.
I can't help but stand in awe when watching sunsets. Some days the water is glassy, not a cloud in the sky and the horizon is a perfect straight line. Personally, I love when the water kicks up somethin' fierce, the clouds look like broken mountains floating through the sky and the sun bursts through with magnificent radiance.
The little tug boat
On the Point Loma Nazarene University campus you can find some of the best views in San Diego.
To sail the open seas
How small the boat looks to me. How huge the world must seem to the ones in the boat.
Luck? Probably. I wasn't even fully aware that someone was walking by with an LED flashlight. I just wanted a cool looking long exposure of the cars curving down from the hill. Thank you jogger for being safe, with your LED light that added some fun.
This may be a theme for me. I'm going to see if I can go to public places and see if a stranger can add fun, spontaneous painting to my long exposures.
PLNU has some of the best sunsets
Really, the Point Loma Nazarene University campus is one of the best on the west coast.
I have never hiked around this area, did a minimal amount of research and went for it. I took the hard way to get to where I wanted to go and found out on the way back that I just had to follow the trail. I'm exhausted and so happy I got this fun shot and found a spot that I can go back to in the future. Preferably when there's a new moon and I am prepared to stay warm.
Just guessing. I've never seen one. Have you? Maybe they really do have kelp for hair. This was my first time seeing this and haven't seen it since. I'm goin' with it.
Smiling back at me
I wasn't even looking at the moon. Didn't see it until I brought it in to process. Love the smoking, glowing moon melting into the horizon.
